Visionary and Compliance Legislative Liaison Consultant
Christopher has been a major component of Grace Pacific since 1975. His career within Grace Pacific as equipment operator, foreman, supervisor, dispatcher, laboratory technician, superintendent, marketing and sales, to manager of environmental compliance expanded his knowledge and understanding of best management practices in the industry.Mr. Steele currently devotes his time to pursue excellence in environmental compliance and through the process, better Hawaii’s and the planets environment. Prior to retiring from Grace Pacific as their environmental manager, he has been initiating and actively promoting proactive environmental programs such as Hawaii Recyclers United for Change, Hawaii Stormwater Excellence Program (HSEP), alternative fuel programs addressed primarily towards locally grown bio fuels, idle reduction programs, and diesel retrofit program partnering with the Hawaii Transportation Association, Hawaii Board of Water Supply, and other private trucking company’s.

Professional: Fourteen years as an environmental professional most recently here in Hawaii with Marisco. Managed Marisco’s environmental affairs from 2002 to 2006 when I went on my own to consult. I was asked back by Marisco in December of 2008 to revise and re-implement the company’s Environmental Management System to maintain compliance with ISO 14000 standards.
Philosophy: The concept of environmental compliance excellence should be understood to incorporate the core values of personal responsibility and accountability in the private sector. We simply cannot rely solely on the limited ability and resources of government to police industry in our effort to preserve the environment for our children and for theirs.

Trisha Macomber
Author of Guidelines on Rainwater Catchment Systems for Hawai`i
Trisha Macomber is a Big Island resident with a Master’s degree in public health/environmental science (MPH) and the author of Guidelines on Rainwater Catchment Systems for Hawai`i. She is an Educational Specialist for the University of Hawai’i’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources in the department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management. The focus of her work is addressing the safe and practical usage of rainwater catchment systems.Macomber’s work is recognized across the nation and internationally. She has been invited to speak on rainwater harvesting for various National and International organizations and conferences. She has held training workshops in Palau, Chuuk, Pohnpei Kosrae and Majuro and has been asked to assist with the US EPA Region 9 rainwater catchment training. She is on the board of the International and Hawaii Rainwater Catchment Systems Associations and a regional representative for the American Rainwater Catchment System Association. She also participates in various National Rainwater Harvesting committees.
Macomber has been awarded the 2003 Outstanding Service Award for the University of Hawaii at Manoa and formally recognized by the Hawaii Senate for her work on rainwater catchment. She has been given a meritorious service award by the International Rainwater Catchment Systems Association for her philanthropic volunteerism in promoting rainwater catchment systems as an ecological way of utilizing the world’s water.
Locally Macomber does community educational outreach programs, responds to questions by homeowners and professionals and provides inexpensive home water test kits and written materials.
